The virtual session to provide an update on the current position with the former Bushey Country Club site is now fully subscribed but the meeting can still be viewed live via our webcasting system:

https://hertsmere.public-i.tv/core/portal/home

The session, on Thursday 18 March at 7pm and chaired by Philip Nowlan from the Bushey Forum, will review the background to one of the council’s key assets, situated in the High Street, and also recap on the Bushey Country Club Consultation Group’s activities since the club ceased operating as a leisure facility in April 2018.

That will be followed by a brief presentation on Hertsmere’s new Local Plan process to set some context around future planning for the borough, including Bushey. There will then be input on some initial outline proposals for the site, enabling views to be gathered from members of the community.

There will be an opportunity to raise questions or views about the future of the site with the various speakers at the event.

More than 220 people have already added views and suggestions to the Commonplace webpage.. This will remain open for several more weeks for people to add their comments.

A recording of the online event will also be added to this webpage for anyone unable to join the session on the night.

Assessing the future of the former Bushey Country Club site

Join Hertsmere Borough Council officers and elected members and the Bushey Forum for a virtual session to update the local community on the current position with the former Bushey Country Club site.

The session, on Thursday 18 March at 7pm, will review the background to one of the council’s key assets, situated in the High Street, and also recap on the Bushey Country Club Consultation Group’s activities since the club ceased operating as a leisure facility in April 2018.

That will be followed by a brief presentation on Hertsmere’s Local Plan process to set some context around future planning for the borough, including Bushey. There will then be input on some initial outline proposals for the site, enabling views to be gathered from members of the community.

There will also be an opportunity to raise questions or views about the future of the site through the chat function which will be raised with the various speakers at the event.

You can also get updates and submit views via this website of course. A recording of the online session will also be added after the event for those unable to join it on the night. If there are more questions than can be accommodated at the event, these will be addressed afterwards via this website.

Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Consultation, Cllr Morris Bright MBE, explained: “The main aim with the session is to update the local community and to continue listening to views by seeking opinions on an outline proposal for the site. This will augment the work already undertaken by the Bushey Country Club Consultation Group, which has both community and cross-party political representation.

“Whilst the meeting is not a formal part of the Local Plan review process, an important element of this session will be to set the context for future planning, and views raised will help inform that work. We are grateful to the Bushey Forum for their support with hosting this event."

Chair of the Bushey Forum, Philip Nowlan, added: "Since the closure of the club, the Bushey Forum has tried to ensure that its members and the wider Bushey community have been kept abreast of any information with regard to this site. This online meeting will be the third event we've chaired where this has been the main topic for discussion. We encourage all residents to join the session or watch the recording afterwards, and submit any questions and comments they may have."
